Abstract
ICT short for information and communication technology has led to substantial progress in the ability to store and manage information as well as in efficiently providing it to clients in the modern day. Nevertheless there has been a lack of significant advancements in the field of information storage. The shift from tangible collections to digital or internet-based collections enabled librarians to capitalise on novel opportunities while also presenting them with fresh challenges. Each passing day our world is becoming more intricate interconnected and ever-changing. Furthermore it is increasingly exhibiting a higher level of interdependence. The fast advancement of technology and increasing demand for it have led to more people and organisations engaging resulting in an accelerated interchange of information. Every individual need further assistance in managing their knowledge leading to an increased demand for technical resources. Consequently this necessitates more progress which is crucial for acquiring additional resources so resulting in an escalation of the workload. This research will investigate the consequences of the influence of information technology on library science and evaluate the significance of information technology in the area.
