An analysis of the use of union-firm bargaining in Indias alternative compensation systems
Author(s): Dr. Adwitiya Vyas

Abstract
The Indian Journal of Labour Economics conducted a study in 2006 to examine the outcomes of talks between monopolistic corporations and risk-neutral unions. The study analysed the impact of alternative negotiating agendas (right-to-manage RTM vs efficient bargaining EB) and pay systems (fixed salary versus piece rate) on societal welfare. Under the same assumptions this note demonstrates that the outcomes of RTM conversations including a profit-sharing arrangement are indistinguishable from those of the EBs piece-rate negotiations.
