Analysing the Capacitive Coupling in Conductors Adjacent to AC Power Lines using a Finite Element Method

This study used Finite Element Analysis software to determine the capacitive coupling component produced by an exposed pipeline situated in close proximity to AC power transmission cables. To validate the results of the simulation a scaled-down experimental setup is also built. The excellent modelling of the coupling between a power transmission line and an unburied pipeline is evident from the strong correlation between the observed and projected values.
