Artificial Intelligence and Ethics in Social Sciences

Abstract
This paper examines the intersections of artificial intelligence (AI) and ethics in the domain of social sciences exploring how technological innovation reshapes research methodologies governance and human behavior. Between 2018 and 2025 AI applications in data collection text analysis behavioral prediction and policy evaluation have transformed the scope of social science research. At the same time these developments have raised serious ethical questions regarding privacy algorithmic bias inequality and accountability. Social sciences which study human societies institutions and relationships are uniquely positioned to interrogate the ethical challenges of AI since its impacts extend beyond technology into the realm of justice rights and values. This paper analyzes AI’s influence on social research practices governance and society while critically examining debates on fairness transparency consent and human dignity. It argues that ethical frameworks in AI must be informed by social science perspectives to ensure inclusivity accountability and equity in technological governance.
