Author(s): Shahrukh Sheikh

Abstract
Autonomous mobile robots have emerged as a transformative technological advancement in modern industrial automation particularly in environments where speed precision reliability and operational continuity are indispensable. Automated pick-and-place tasks—which involve the identification grasping transporting and repositioning of objects—represent one of the most critical operations within manufacturing plants warehouses logistics hubs and distribution centers. Traditional manual systems often struggle with labor fatigue inconsistent performance and growing productivity requirements making the integration of autonomous mobile robots a necessity rather than a luxury. These robots combine mobile navigation technologies robotic manipulators embedded intelligence computer vision and sensor fusion to execute complex handling tasks without human intervention. The increasing sophistication of artificial intelligence machine learning and autonomous mapping technologies has further enhanced the capability of such robots to adapt to dynamic environments avoid obstacles optimize energy consumption and execute precise mechanical operations with remarkable efficiency.
