Caste and Digital Divide Challenges in Rural India

The expansion of digital technologies has been hailed as a transformative force in twenty-first century India. Government initiatives such as Digital India and BharatNet have promised to bridge socio-economic gaps by extending internet access to rural areas. Yet despite these advances the benefits of digital connectivity remain unevenly distributed. In rural India where caste continues to be a defining axis of social stratification the digital divide intersects with historical inequalities producing new challenges of access literacy and inclusion.
