Climate Change Warnings in Folktales

Climate change has long been considered a modern scientific concern but warnings about environmental changes have existed in human narratives for centuries. Folktales myths and oral traditions from different cultures contain embedded wisdom regarding ecological balance extreme weather events and environmental degradation. This paper explores how folktales across various regions act as repositories of early climate consciousness warning communities about unsustainable practices natural disasters and the delicate relationship between humans and nature. By analyzing folktales from India indigenous cultures and global traditions this study examines their relevance in contemporary climate discourse and their potential role in environmental education.
