Environmental Conservation Measures in Medieval India

Environmental conservation has been a critical aspect of sustainable living across different civilizations including medieval India. While contemporary environmental concerns focus on industrialization and climate change medieval India had its own methods of ecological management deeply rooted in traditional wisdom religious beliefs and administrative policies. This paper examines the environmental conservation measures implemented in medieval India including forest management water conservation agricultural practices and urban planning. By analyzing historical texts inscriptions and administrative records this study explores how medieval Indian society balanced economic development with ecological sustainability. The research further evaluates the relevance of these traditional practices in addressing modern environmental challenges.
