Ethics of Genetic Editing and Its Social Acceptance

Abstract
Genetic editing has emerged as one of the most transformative scientific advancements of the 21st century redefining the boundaries of medicine biology and human intervention in natural processes. Technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9 have enabled precise and efficient modification of genetic material offering unprecedented opportunities to treat genetic disorders enhance agricultural productivity and even potentially eliminate hereditary diseases. However alongside its immense potential genetic editing raises profound ethical concerns that challenge traditional moral frameworks social norms and regulatory systems. The ethical dilemmas surrounding genetic editing revolve around issues such as human dignity consent equity unintended consequences and the possibility of misuse for non-therapeutic enhancements. Furthermore the social acceptance of genetic editing varies significantly across cultures societies and demographic groups influenced by religious beliefs educational levels and trust in scientific institutions. This paper critically examines the ethical dimensions of genetic editing and analyzes the factors shaping its social acceptance. By integrating philosophical perspectives bioethical principles and sociological insights the study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with this revolutionary technology.
