Abstract
Green governance has emerged as a critical framework for addressing environmental challenges while promoting social equity and justice. This research evaluates the efficacy of green governance policies mechanisms and practices in advancing environmental justice and equality across diverse socio-economic and geographic contexts. The study examines national and international case studies highlighting the interaction between environmental policy frameworks institutional governance and marginalized communities. Central to this analysis is the exploration of how inclusive policy design stakeholder engagement regulatory enforcement and sustainable resource management contribute to equitable environmental outcomes. The paper employs a mixed-methods research methodology integrating quantitative environmental indicators qualitative policy analysis and stakeholder interviews documented in scholarly publications and reports. Findings indicate that effective green governance requires multi-level coordination participatory decision-making and accountability mechanisms to ensure that environmental benefits and burdens are distributed equitably. Case studies from developing and developed nations illustrate both successes and shortcomings emphasizing that environmental justice is inextricably linked to governance structures socio-political commitment and community empowerment. Furthermore the research assesses the role of international agreements non-governmental organizations and local governance initiatives in promoting sustainability and equality. By synthesizing empirical data policy evaluations and theoretical insights the study contributes to understanding the mechanisms through which green governance can mitigate environmental inequality and foster inclusive sustainability. The paper concludes by offering policy recommendations and practical frameworks for enhancing the efficacy of green governance in advancing environmental justice and equality globally.
