Impact of Globalization on Local Economies: A Case Study Approach
Author(s): Akshit Pawar

Abstract
Globalization as a multifaceted process of economic cultural technological and political integration has had a profound impact on local economies across the world. It has introduced new opportunities for trade investment and innovation but has also generated challenges in the form of inequality labor displacement and environmental degradation. This paper explores the impact of globalization on local economies through selected case studies in different sectors and regions of the world with particular emphasis on India and comparable developing economies. By examining the socio-economic transformations brought about by global forces in specific local contexts this study offers a nuanced understanding of the complex and often contradictory effects of globalization. The analysis reveals that while globalization has enabled certain regions and industries to flourish it has also marginalized traditional livelihoods and deepened structural disparities. The paper concludes with recommendations for balancing global integration with local resilience and inclusive development.
