INTEGRATION OF INDIAN KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS WITH MODERN EDUCATION

The integration of Indian Knowledge Systems with modern education has emerged as a significant intellectual and pedagogical priority in the 21st century reflecting India’s efforts to harmonize its civilizational heritage with contemporary learning models. Indian Knowledge Systems encompass diverse intellectual traditions including philosophy sciences mathematics linguistics arts ethics governance ecology health systems and spiritual disciplines. As global education systems expand their focus toward multidimensional learning cultural rootedness sustainability and holistic development the relevance of India’s rich knowledge traditions resurfaces with renewed importance. This paper explores how ancient and classical Indian knowledge can be meaningfully integrated into modern educational frameworks without compromising scientific rigor academic objectivity or global relevance. Drawing from foundational studies available before 2018 and contextualizing developments around 2020 the paper analyzes how pedagogical models inspired by Indian heritage can enhance critical thinking creativity value-based learning environmental consciousness mental health and interdisciplinary scholarship. It examines the philosophical foundations of Indian knowledge the structural gaps in current educational practices and the opportunities for transformation through curriculum reforms teacher training research integration and digital learning innovations.
