Dr. B.R. Ambedkar a principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a profound social reformer engaged deeply with questions of religion spirituality and social justice. His perspectives on religion are multifaceted critically examining caste hierarchies ritualism and the role of religion in shaping societal values and individual liberty. This paper undertakes a comprehensive literature review to synthesize Ambedkar’s views on religion particularly his critique of Hindu orthodoxy the caste system and his advocacy for egalitarian principles within religious practice. The study examines primary sources such as Ambedkar’s writings speeches and autobiographical narratives alongside secondary scholarly analyses to understand his conceptualization of religion as both a social and moral framework. The review further explores his approach toward Buddhism which he embraced as a rational and ethical alternative to the hierarchical structures inherent in Hinduism. Through methodical analysis the paper seeks to contextualize Ambedkar’s religious thought within the broader discourse of social reform highlighting its implications for contemporary debates on secularism human rights and interfaith engagement.
