Media Representation of Marginalized Communities in India

Abstract
Media plays a crucial role in shaping social perceptions political discourse and cultural narratives. In a diverse society like India the representation of marginalized communities—including Dalits Adivasis women religious minorities LGBTQ+ groups and persons with disabilities—has profound implications for democracy social justice and inclusion. While media has the potential to challenge stereotypes and give voice to the voiceless its practices often reflect and reinforce dominant social hierarchies.
