Our goal is to discover how metalinguistic activities when included in early education programs affect students ability to read and write as well as their general cognitive flexibility. Elementary school students who took part in a systematic metalinguistic training program were the subjects of a longitudinal study. The results show that early education programs that promote metalinguistic awareness have a substantial impact on students literacy and academic achievement. The significance of using metalinguistic activities in classrooms to enhance students academic performance in many areas is highlighted by these results.
