Author(s): Dr. ShashikantAbstract
Prejudice is a complex phenomena that involves forming attitudes or judgements about persons based on their group membership. It connects with different personality qualities. Studies indicate that some personality traits might have a reciprocal relationship with biased beliefs. Individuals with elevated degrees of authoritarianism tend to have more pronounced biased ideas. This is because they often prefer hierarchical systems and are more inclined to see members of out-groups as posing a danger. In contrast characteristics like as openness to new experiences are often linked to reduced levels of bias. Individuals who exhibit high scores in this feature tend to be more receptive to variety and novelty. In addition qualities such as empathy and compassion help mitigate biased views by promoting comprehension and diminishing negative prejudices. This abstract examines the complex relationship between personality qualities and prejudice emphasizing the role of traits such as authoritarianism openness and empathy in both the formation and reduction of biased beliefs.
