Rural development remains a critical focus area for sustainable socio-economic progress in developing countries and India presents a compelling case study due to its vast rural population and diverse developmental challenges. Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have emerged as pivotal actors in facilitating rural development by complementing government initiatives mobilizing community participation and addressing localized socio-economic needs. This study examines the role of NGOs in promoting rural development in India highlighting their strategies interventions successes challenges and potential for scaling up.
