Skill India Mission and Employment Opportunities for Rural Youth

Employment generation remains one of the most pressing challenges for India’s development trajectory. With nearly two-thirds of the population below the age of 35 India possesses a demographic dividend that could propel economic growth. However the dividend can be realized only if young people particularly those in rural areas acquire market-relevant skills and access employment opportunities. The launch of the Skill India Mission in 2015 marked a significant step toward addressing this challenge by providing training certification and capacity building in diverse sectors.
