Abstract
This paper explores the role of social media in shaping youth political participation in 2025 highlighting both the empowering opportunities and the critical challenges it presents. Social media has become a central tool for young people to access political information express their views mobilize campaigns and participate in democratic processes. While platforms such as Twitter (X) Instagram Facebook TikTok and YouTube provide inclusive spaces for civic engagement they also create risks of misinformation polarization and superficial activism. The paper examines how social media has transformed traditional patterns of youth participation into dynamic digital-first practices. It argues that although social media has significantly lowered barriers to political engagement and strengthened issue-based activism its impact on the quality of democracy depends on how effectively societies address challenges of digital literacy regulation and equitable access.
