Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Indian Policy Frameworks

This research paper explores the relationship between Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Indian policy frameworks focusing on how India has sought to localize and implement the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As one of the largest and most diverse emerging economies India faces unique challenges in achieving SDGs related to poverty eradication gender equality education healthcare climate action and sustainable economic growth. This study analyzes India’s policy frameworks government initiatives and institutional mechanisms that align with the 17 SDGs while also identifying the gaps and challenges that hinder progress. Drawing upon recent reports case studies and scholarly research the paper argues that while India has made significant strides in integrating SDGs into its development policies structural inequalities resource constraints and regional disparities continue to pose barriers. The study concludes by suggesting that stronger inter-sectoral coordination inclusive governance and participatory approaches will be critical for achieving SDGs by 2030.
