Author(s): Manav KhuswhaAbstract
Civil society organisations (CSOs) occupy a critical space between the state market and citizens. They function as agents of accountability advocacy and service delivery shaping governance outcomes and influencing policy agendas. In India CSOs have historically played transformative roles in mobilizing citizens articulating marginalized voices and demanding transparency and rights-based entitlements. From the Right to Information movement to environmental campaigns their advocacy has reshaped both policies and governance frameworks.
