The Diversity of Cultures in India and Its Influence on the Principle of Secularism

Abstract
India one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world is home to a multiplicity of languages religions ethnicities and traditions. This diversity has shaped the socio-political fabric of the country and influenced the interpretation and implementation of secularism a foundational principle enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Secularism in India is distinct from Western notions emphasizing not only the separation of religion and state but also the equal treatment and respect of all religions. This study examines how India’s cultural plurality impacts secular practices policy-making legal frameworks and social cohesion.
