The Impact of Corporate Social Responsibility on Social Development in India

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has evolved from a voluntary practice of philanthropy into a structured framework of accountability sustainability and social engagement. In India CSR gained legal recognition through the Companies Act 2013 which made it mandatory for qualifying companies to allocate two percent of their profits to CSR activities. This legal provision placed India among the first countries in the world to institutionalize CSR. Since then billions of rupees have been invested in projects related to education health environment rural development and skill enhancement.
