Abstract
The interplay between religion and politics has often been a sensitive matter in India where secularism underpins its constitutional principles. This study examines the complex interplay between religion and politics and emphasises the difficulties associated with secularism in modern India. This research analyses historical legal and sociopolitical factors to investigate the effects of religious politicisation on democratic ideals and social cohesion. The document examines case studies and legal rulings to exemplify the changing dynamics of secularism. The document provides recommendations for preserving secular principles in the context of increased communal polarisation.
