The Participation of Rural Girls in STEM Education in India

Abstract
The participation of rural girls in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in India remains significantly lower compared to their urban counterparts. Despite various governmental initiatives and social awareness programs aimed at promoting STEM education among girls structural barriers such as gender norms financial constraints lack of infrastructure and socio-cultural biases continue to hinder their access. This research paper explores the challenges policy interventions and potential solutions to enhance the participation of rural girls in STEM education. By analyzing empirical data case studies and global best practices this study highlights the need for targeted efforts to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields ensuring greater inclusion and economic empowerment for rural girls in India.
