Author(s): Meenakshi Gupta

Abstract
Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are crucial in conflict resolution especially via grassroots peacebuilding efforts that tackle the basic causes of violence. This paper examines the role of NGOs in conflict resolution with an emphasis on case studies of grassroots initiatives in conflict-affected areas. The study examines the role of NGOs in facilitating discussion mediating conflicts and promoting reconciliation among divided communities. The research uses qualitative methodologies such as interviews with NGO personnel and community people to underscore the efficacy of localised approaches that emphasise community engagement trust cultivation and culturally attuned initiatives. The results indicate that while NGOs encounter obstacles including limited finances and political opposition their capacity to function autonomously from governmental frameworks often allows them to reconcile divisions that governments are unable to address. The report asserts that NGOs are essential participants in fostering lasting peace urging more funding and acknowledgement of their involvement in conflict-affected areas.
