The Social Impact of NEP 2020 on Higher Education in India

Abstract
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a landmark reform in India’s education system replacing the earlier policy of 1986 after more than three decades. While much attention has been given to its academic and structural aspects its social implications for higher education are equally significant. NEP 2020 envisions a holistic multidisciplinary and inclusive education system aligned with global standards while rooted in Indian traditions. It emphasizes access equity quality and employability aiming to transform India into a knowledge society.
