Author(s): Imran Ali

Abstract
Political participation has traditionally been associated with voting campaigning and direct involvement in political organizations. However in the twenty-first century new forms of participation have emerged particularly digital activism which leverages online platforms for political expression mobilization and advocacy. In India where nearly 65 percent of the population is under the age of 35 youth are both the largest demographic group and the most digitally connected generation. Their engagement in politics is increasingly shaped by social media digital campaigns and online movements.
